ABOUT THE BAR EXAM

Format

Wednesday – MBE

Thursday – Essay: 12 essay questions

Subjects

  • Constitutional law (United States and Tennessee)
  • Criminal law (substantive and procedural)
  • Contracts
  • Torts
  • Property (real and personal)
  • Evidence
  • Civil procedure (United States and Tennessee)
  • Business organizations (including agency, partnerships and corporations)
  • Commercial transactions (Articles 1, 2, 3, 6 and 9 of the Uniform Commercial Code)
  • Wills and estates.
  • Domestic relations or personal status (husband and wife, parent and child, marriage and divorce, etc.)
  • Professional responsibility
  • Restitution and remedies
  • Conflicts of law

Grading

With 125 scaled MBE, must pass 9 out of 12 essay questions; with 130 scaled MBE, must pass 8 out of 12 essay questions; with 135 scaled MBE, must pass 7 out of 12 essay questions.
