ABOUT THE BAR EXAM

Format

Tuesday – Essay
Wednesday - MBE

Subjects

  • Code of Professional Responsibility
  • Commercial Law, which may include:
    • Contracts
    • U.C.C.
    • Consumer Law
    • Creditor's rights, including bankruptcy
  • Property
  • Procedural Law, which may include:
    • Pleadings
    • Practice
    • Evidence
    • Remedies
  • Criminal Law
  • Business Entities, which may include:
    • Agency
    • Partnership (incl. joint ventures)
    • Corporations
    • LLCs
  • Constitutional and Administrative Law
  • Torts
  • Wills, Trusts, Estate Planning, including:
    • federal estate and gift taxation
  • Conflicts of Law
  • Family Law

Grading

Oklahoma combines your scores on both portions of the exam to determine whether you pass. Oklahoma currently has a MBE cutoff score of 135 (scaled) that is considered passing. On the essay portion of the exam 75% is considered passing. The scores are combined for a passing score. You are not required to have a certain score on either portion to pass. A higher score on one part of the exam will compensate for a lower score on the other portion.
