ABOUT THE BAR EXAM

Format

Essay/MPT (Tues.): four 45-minute essay questions; two 90-minute MPT questions

MBE (Wed.): 200 multiple choice questions

• Criminal Law and Procedure
• Evidence
• Family Law
• Federal and State Practice and Procedure
• Non-Monetary Remedies
• Professional Ethics
• Property

• U.C.C. (Articles 2, 3 & 9)

Grading

Passing score: 270* out of a possible 400 points

Exam consists of two equally weighted components: (1) MBE and (2) essay/MPT. Raw scores of MPT questions are multiplied by 1.5 and added to raw scores on the essay questions. This total is then converted to the 200-point MBE scale and combined with the scaled MBE score to obtain a final score.

*Essay/MPT answers are not graded unless MBE scaled score is at least 115.
